Bitcoin surged over 5% to $72,500 after Trump's announcement on Iran, boosting market sentiment across cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin experienced a significant surge, climbing over 5% to surpass $72,500 on Tuesday evening. This increase followed an announcement from President Donald Trump regarding a potential pause in US military actions against Iran. Trump indicated that the US would halt bombing for two weeks if Iran committed to reopening the Strait of Hormuz safely and immediately. This announcement shifted overall market sentiment positively, affecting both cryptocurrency and global markets.

As a result of this rally, Bitcoin reached an intraday high of about $72,433. Ether saw substantial gains, jumping nearly 8% to $2,261, while Solana reported a rise of approximately 8.5%, reaching $86.62. XRP also increased, trading around $1.32 but made smaller gains compared to other assets in the sector.

The overall market reaction was notable, with US crude futures dropping by $12.04 to $100.90 a barrel following Trump's statement. Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures surged by about 1.8%, reflecting a robust response from investors. Nasdaq 100 futures followed suit, showing an increase of approximately 2%.

Trump referenced discussions with Pakistan's leadership and described this initiative as a two-sided ceasefire proposal. The lifting of potential military actions is contingent upon Iran’s response to the US demands regarding the Strait of Hormuz, where a previous escalation had left markets uneasy. Investors had been on high alert before this announcement, closely monitoring developments and anticipating Trump's latest deadline for Iran.
