Bitwise Asset Management is set to take over Superstate's Crypto Carry Fund, marking its entry into tokenized investment products.

#What does Bitwise Asset Management's takeover of the Crypto Carry Fund mean?

Bitwise Asset Management is set to manage Superstate’s Crypto Carry Fund, marking the company's initial foray into tokenized investment products. This transition is anticipated to finalize by June 1, 2026, and subsequently, the fund will rebrand as the Bitwise Crypto Carry Fund while retaining its USCC ticker symbol, smart contracts, and token address.

The USCC fund, which targets qualified investors, is designed to generate yields from crypto cash and carry trades. This investment strategy exploits the price differences between cryptocurrency spot and future prices. At present, the fund boasts over $267 million in assets under management and has attracted diverse investors, including hedge funds, venture funds, corporations, wealthy individuals, and various protocols.

#How will operations change with this transition?

Even as Bitwise takes over management of the fund, Superstate will maintain operational control over the fund’s on-chain infrastructure. This includes handling tokenized issuance and offering digital transfer agency services. Superstate's strategy emphasizes a shift from traditional fund management towards FundOS, an infrastructure platform dedicated to on-chain funds.

The USCC fund provides qualified purchasers access to crypto basis strategies across various digital assets alongside US Treasury securities. This creates an avenue for ownership represented by USCC tokens, which can either be held as digital tokens or documented through book entries. Investors can engage with the fund via subscriptions and redemptions in USD or USDC, ensuring liquidity is available on each market day.

#Why is this significant in the tokenized investment landscape?

The shift comes at a time when tokenized investment products are gaining traction within institutional settings. Data from RWA.xyz reveals that the broader market for tokenized real-world assets currently holds $31.4 billion in distributed asset value, reflecting a nearly 5% increase over the last month. Of this, tokenized US Treasuries alone account for $15 billion and are spread across 76 distinct assets.

Bitwise expresses confidence in the growth of the tokenized asset market, projecting it could soar to a staggering $18.9 trillion by 2031. This anticipated growth is driven by financial institutions' increasing reliance on blockchain infrastructure to enhance liquidity, improve settlement efficiency, and expand investor accessibility. As of April 1, 2025, Bitwise reported managing $11 billion in client assets, illustrating its commitment to the evolving landscape of investment management.
