Celestica seeks to raise $3 billion to expand AI infrastructure as it reports strong growth results for 2026.

Celestica, a Canadian company specializing in electronics manufacturing, is making headlines as it seeks to raise $3 billion in equity financing. This figure represents approximately 15% of the company’s projected annual revenue of $20.5 billion for the fiscal year. This capital raise could allow the company to expand its offerings, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence infrastructure, which has seen a significant increase in demand.

Recent financial results underscore the company's growth trajectory. For the second quarter of 2026, Celestica reported revenue between $4.35 billion and $4.7 billion, leading to an upward revision of its full-year revenue guidance to $20.5 billion. This marks a remarkable 65% increase in revenue compared to the previous year. Furthermore, adjusted earnings per share are forecasted to reach $11.30, reflecting an 87% growth compared to the last fiscal period.

Trading on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker CLS, Celestica specializes in design, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions. A significant portion of its business is now focused on data center infrastructure and advanced technology platforms. The firm has also been enhancing its AI capabilities through collaborations with leading chipset manufacturers like AMD.

Recently, Celestica introduced innovative hardware such as 1.6TbE switches, which are vital for the operation of hyperscale data centers that require high-bandwidth networking solutions.

Historically, the company has engaged in notable capital market transactions, including a secondary share sale in 2023 led by Onex Corporation, its primary shareholder. This transaction involved approximately 6.76 million subordinate voting shares. Looking back, Celestica conducted a $714 million equity offering in 2001, illustrating the dramatic scale of infrastructure investment over the last 25 years.

Several questions arise with this new equity offering. First, how will the shares be priced? This will indicate the level of institutional interest. Second, what will the proceeds be used for? If the capital is directed towards enhancing AI hardware manufacturing, it sends a positive signal to the broader tech landscape. However, if it mainly serves debt reduction or general corporate use, the outlook might be less optimistic.

Investors should remain vigilant about market conditions. As the hardware industry is cyclical, demand can fluctuate. It is crucial to monitor upcoming earnings reports from major cloud service providers for indications of any slowdown in data center development. Such insights will be fundamental for understanding the investment landscape as it evolves.
