#What Are the Benefits of Chainlink's New TWAP Feeds?
Chainlink has recently implemented an important upgrade, introducing Time-Weighted Average Price feeds on its mainnet. This enhancement provides developers with access to averaged pricing data that is significantly more resistant to manipulation compared to traditional single-snapshot price feeds.
The TWAP feeds commenced operations at around 19:55 UTC on July 31, featuring two variants: a 30-second window and a 60-second window. By using these feeds, developers can enhance the accuracy and reliability of price data in their projects, which is essential for maintaining integrity in decentralized finance applications.
#How Can Developers Utilize TWAP Feeds?
Developers can easily access these feeds through Chainlink Data Streams. If they already possess credentials, they can begin integrating the new data sources immediately. Comprehensive documentation, feed IDs, and SDK examples are available via data.chain.link as well as through Polymarket's developer resources. Depending on the specific feeds they wish to use, pricing starts at $150 per month.
Polymarket, a leading prediction market platform, is among the first to adopt these TWAP feeds. It plans to transition its crypto up/down markets to utilize TWAP-based settlement beginning on August 7 at 00:00 UTC. The 30-second TWAP feeds cater to 5-minute markets, while the 60-second feeds are suitable for 15-minute and 4-hour markets.
Further enhancing accessibility, Polymarket will launch a Real-Time Data Streaming WebSocket on August 4, enabling developers to access TWAP feeds even more efficiently. This period leading up to full Real-Time Data Streaming delivery will serve as an opportunity for final adjustments and calibration of the feeds.

#Why Does TWAP Matter in Decentralized Finance?
Single-snapshot price feeds have been problematic for markets, as they allow for manipulation. When a market is settled based on a price at a specific moment, individuals with substantial capital can artificially affect that price just prior to settlement. In contrast, TWAP feeds average prices over a specific timeframe, making it far more challenging for malicious actors to manipulate prices, as they would require sustained pressure throughout the averaging period—an endeavor that is prohibitive in terms of cost and effort.
To encourage this transition, Polymarket has committed $1 million in liquidity incentives for affected markets throughout August.
#What Are Chainlink's Other Data Services?
Prior to the mainnet launch, developers had access to testnet versions of these feeds. This prior availability allowed ample time for building and testing integration setups, ensuring a smoother transition once the mainnet feeds were introduced.
