Crypto.com and Fanatics Collectibles team up for a unique initiative at the 2026 UEFA Champions League Final to engage sports fans.

Crypto.com, a Singapore-based digital asset exchange, is collaborating with Fanatics Collectibles, the company known for the Topps brand, on an innovative initiative at the upcoming 2026 UEFA Champions League Final in Budapest. This campaign offers football enthusiasts a unique opportunity to acquire the official Match Coin that will be used during the match's crucial opening coin toss.

This initiative features the exclusive Match Coin embedded within a unique Topps Now "Relic" trading card, with a single collector randomly selected to receive the coin after purchasing a related base card via Topps.com following the conclusion of the final. The partnership not only underscores the excitement of football but also highlights the merging of traditional sports collecting with contemporary digital engagement.

What does this mean for fans and investors? By tokenizing a physical object, this collaboration bridges two categories of sports fans—those who embrace Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) and those devoted to trading cards. The aim is to provide not just a collectible but to showcase how physical items can evolve into digital assets on the blockchain, representing an investment with potential long-term value.

The Match Coin will be authenticated using the Cronos blockchain, transforming it into a digital collectible. Owning this coin will grant access to a variety of exclusive experiences during the 2026/27 season, which include tickets to the UEFA Super Cup Final, a pass for selected league matches, and participation in delivering the Match Coin at a club’s opening fixture.

As part of the lead-up to the final, the Match Coin was delivered to Budapest’s Puskás Aréna by drone and ceremonially unveiled by UEFA ambassador Ashley Cole, before it was employed by the referee to kick off the 2026 Champions League Final. This project represents a significant step in combining traditional sports culture with emerging digital trends, presenting exciting prospects for fans and collectors alike.
