Mysten Labs introduces a game-changing solution for AI in financial transactions with its Seal multi-party computation system.

What challenges do AI agents face in managing financial transactions? AI agents traditionally struggled with secure access to wallets. Mysten Labs has proposed a solution that modernizes how AI engages in onchain markets. They introduced a prototype based on their Seal multi-party computation system, allowing AI systems to execute payments and interact with blockchain networks without managing private keys.

The Seal technology addresses the private key issue head-on. By utilizing committees of independent nodes for transaction authorization, this system eliminates the risk associated with a single agent holding a private key. Instead, the process involves multiple parties who must collectively agree to approve or decline any transaction, preventing unauthorized actions and promoting security.

This system ensures that spending policies are upheld automatically. By employing Sui’s Move smart contracts, the regulations governing fund transfers include daily limits, approval requirements, and restrictions on whom funds can be sent to. The result is a more controlled environment for managing transactions, reducing the risk of unintended transfers.

How does Seal promote fair competition for AI agents? Sui's Seal system facilitates a more equitable atmosphere in onchain markets. It allows agents to submit bids confidentially, keeping competitors' strategies unknown until the reveal. Such secrecy ensures that no one agent can gain an unfair advantage by observing others’ actions, thereby fostering fair play in the marketplace.

The rollout of Seal’s MPC system began in June 2026, following a staged approach that involved assessing the decentralized key server infrastructure first. This measured introduction aims to ensure thorough audits and validations before engaging with actual funds, addressing the inherent risks associated with these systems.

What does this mean for the future of AI infrastructure in Sui? Mysten Labs is building a complete framework for AI agents known as a programmable access layer, which incorporates Seal alongside other tools for decentralized storage and encrypted messaging. As SUI acts as the gas token for transactions on the network, increased AI activity will directly heighten demand for this token.

Despite the promising outlook, the risks of MPC systems shouldn't be overlooked. The nuances of node coordination and the potential for collusion present their own vulnerabilities. Given that any malfunction in the authorization process could impact all agents in the system, stringent audit requirements are crucial to ensuring security and trust in this new financial architecture.
