OpenAI raised $110 billion in funding, boosting its valuation to $730 billion. Key investors include SoftBank, NVIDIA, and Amazon.

OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence research lab focused on creating safe AGI, has successfully completed a $110 billion funding round. This round has placed its pre-money valuation at an unprecedented $730 billion, attracting substantial investments from industry giants such as SoftBank, NVIDIA, and Amazon.

SoftBank, renowned for its influential role in technology investments, and NVIDIA, a key provider of AI computing hardware, each committed $30 billion to support OpenAI's ambitious goals. Amazon contributed $50 billion and forged a multi-year strategic partnership to enhance AI applications across both enterprise and consumer sectors.

This significant capital will allow OpenAI to expand its computing infrastructure, responding to the rising demand for its products. The company's conversational AI platform, ChatGPT, has achieved remarkable popularity with over 900 million weekly active users and more than 50 million consumer subscribers.

As businesses increasingly rely on AI technologies, there are now over nine million paying corporate users leveraging OpenAI's platform for essential operations. The firm’s coding assistant, Codex, has experienced substantial growth, tripling its weekly user base to 1.6 million since January.

An expanded collaboration with NVIDIA provides OpenAI with access to 3 gigawatts of dedicated inference capacity and 2 gigawatts for training, utilizing vibrant next-generation Vera Rubin systems. This enhancement builds upon existing resources powered by the Hopper and Blackwell hardware available through partnerships with Microsoft, Oracle Cloud, and CoreWeave.

The new valuation also elevates the OpenAI Foundation’s stake within the broader corporate framework to over $180 billion, significantly boosting its ability to finance philanthropic initiatives in crucial areas, including health research and AI resilience.

Looking ahead, OpenAI has committed to a $300 billion infrastructure agreement with Oracle and has acquired enterprise analytics firm Statsig for $1.1 billion by September 2025. Industry estimates suggest that cumulative AI compute spending could surpass $450 billion from 2024 to 2030.

Retail investors should consider the implications of OpenAI's ongoing growth and financing as it continues to expand its influence and services across various sectors, including healthcare, businesses, and consumer products.
