#What is QuickSwap Proposing for Token Holders?
QuickSwap has initiated a significant change for its token holders by proposing a temporary governance measure. This decentralized exchange operates on various Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains, including Polygon and Base. Currently, 20% of the protocol revenue goes to the QuickSwap DAO. The new proposal seeks approval to redirect 80% of revenue toward expansion efforts for a limited period, specifically about 90 days, after which the revenue distribution would revert to its original state.
This vote is currently open and will conclude on August 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM UTC. Token holders participating in this process will utilize Snapshot, an off-chain governance tool designed for DeFi, which allows them to vote easily without incurring gas fees or dealing with on-chain complexities. By merely connecting their wallets, holders can express their support or opposition to the proposed changes.
#What Changes Does This Vote Represent?
The proposed change challenges the existing revenue allocation structure by drastically shifting the ratio in favor of expansion initiatives. The QuickSwap DAO typically retains only 20% of the applicable protocol revenue, but this proposal aims to enhance expansion funding significantly over the specified timeframe. This shift aims to stimulate growth and innovation within the QuickSwap platform.
Concerns have emerged from community members regarding the word “temporary.” Many investors are wary of similar past scenarios where transient measures morphed into lasting changes due to ongoing demand or pressures from stakeholders.

#Has QuickSwap Engaged in Similar Governance Actions Before?
This proposal is not QuickSwap's first foray into aggressive governance adjustments. In October 2024, the exchange executed a program named "Trial of Fire," which redirected all revenue streams to buybacks and burns of the $QUICK token. More recently, in July 2026, a governance vote approved the burning of 20 million QUICK tokens, which constituted about 2% of the total supply. This vote received overwhelming backing, with roughly 5.8 million votes supporting it and only a minor few opposed.
Moreover, QuickSwap has successfully expanded its operations to Base, an innovative layer-2 network developed by Coinbase. By integrating new features like Orbs perpetuals trading, QuickSwap continues to enhance its platform through past governance decisions.
#Why Should DeFi Investors Pay Attention?
The proposed temporary reallocation is simultaneously attractive and potentially hazardous for DeFi investors. Proponents assert that a 90-day period is sufficient to realize substantial expansion while limiting downside risks. On the other hand, skeptics worry that if the initiative generates favorable growth metrics, there may be calls to extend the reallocation beyond the initial timeframe.
It will be essential to monitor governance participation rates closely during this period. The previous token burn received substantial backing. If this revenue redistribution proposal garners similar support, it would indicate that QuickSwap’s governance process remains robust and actively engages its community.
