SpaceX revealed larger Bitcoin holdings than expected, becoming a significant player in the cryptocurrency market after new transactions.

SpaceX has recently made Bitcoin transactions after a six-month hiatus, amounting to less than $300 worth of Bitcoin in total. This activity, while minor, unveils a significant aspect of SpaceX's financial position. In its S-1 filing for public offering, the company disclosed it holds 18,712 BTC, which is valued at approximately $1.16 billion to $1.29 billion. This figure is more than double the previous estimates from blockchain tracking firms, indicating that SpaceX is now recognized as the eighth-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin.

Understanding how much Bitcoin SpaceX holds is crucial. Before going public on June 12, 2026, estimates around 8,285 BTC were the norm. The revealed total significantly alters that perception, showcasing a much larger accumulation strategy. The average purchase price for its Bitcoin holdings is around $35,000 per Bitcoin, meaning the total acquisition cost was about $661 million. Given the current market valuation, SpaceX has an unrealized gain exceeding $500 million.

When examining the recent Bitcoin transfers, the notable transaction was a mere 0.00213 BTC, valued around $135. Such small amounts suggest ordinary wallet maintenance rather than market strategies. Importantly, these transfers did not move to external exchanges, which often indicates a readiness to sell. Instead, SpaceX kept its Bitcoin transactions within its controlled addresses, adhering to a routine and non-disruptive approach.

For crypto investors, the implications are significant. With its Bitcoin treasury now a part of quarterly earnings disclosures, it invites public scrutiny and consideration from analysts. SpaceX's earlier acquisitions of Bitcoin during lower price periods reinforce the idea of strategic, long-term investment rather than speculative trading. The gap in estimates regarding Bitcoin holdings recognizes the potential for undisclosed corporate accumulation across private entities. This transparency shift demonstrates that investors should be alert to the evolving corporate landscape regarding cryptocurrency investments.
