Strategy raises $334 million through MSTR sales while holding Bitcoin steady

Strategy sold $334 million of MSTR stock, repurchased preferred shares and kept its Bitcoin holdings unchanged at 840,447 BTC.

Strategy raised fresh capital last week by selling common stock, while keeping its Bitcoin holdings unchanged and adding to its US dollar reserve.

The company said it generated about $334 million through its at the market sale of MSTR shares between August 10 and August 16. It then used the proceeds across three main areas, covering preferred stock dividends, preferred share repurchases, and added liquidity.

#What did Strategy do with the new capital

Strategy used the latest equity proceeds in a targeted way. According to the company, about $52.4 million went to dividends tied to STRC, around $132.2 million funded repurchases of 1.39 million STRC shares, and roughly $149.1 million was added to its US dollar reserve.

That reserve reached $4.8 billion, including proceeds from share sales that had not yet settled. For investors, this matters because liquidity remains a key part of the company’s ability to manage a large Bitcoin treasury alongside its capital structure.

#Why does the unchanged Bitcoin balance matter

The unchanged Bitcoin balance matters because Strategy did not add to or reduce its core crypto position during the period. Its holdings remained at 840,447 BTC.

The company said its aggregate Bitcoin purchase cost stands at $63.36 billion, or about $75,385 per Bitcoin on average. That figure gives investors a reference point when comparing Strategy’s balance sheet exposure with the current Bitcoin price.

#What should MSTR investors watch next

MSTR investors should watch how often the company returns to the equity market, how it manages preferred stock obligations, and whether it resumes Bitcoin purchases in coming weeks.

The latest update suggests Strategy is focused on balance sheet flexibility as much as Bitcoin accumulation right now. For retail investors, the key question is simple. Does this capital management strengthen the company’s ability to support its crypto strategy, or does ongoing share issuance increase dilution risk over time.

#Why this update matters for crypto investors

This update matters for crypto investors because Strategy remains one of the public market’s largest Bitcoin proxies. Even when it does not buy more BTC, changes in its financing activity can affect how investors view both the stock and the broader market for listed crypto exposure.

With Bitcoin holdings unchanged, the headline here is less about accumulation and more about corporate funding, liquidity management, and shareholder structure. That makes this a balance sheet story as much as a cryptocurrency story.
