#What Happened to Trend Research's Ethereum Investments?
Trend Research, an investment firm linked with Liquid Capital, has nearly completed its exit from Ethereum after facing significant losses amounting to 747 million dollars. Data from Lookonchain highlights that the company had aggressively acquired Ethereum throughout late 2025, primarily using leveraged borrowing from Aave.
At one point, Trend Research's total holdings had surpassed 650,000 ETH. This firm took out a substantial loan of 70 million USDT from Aave, leading to the purchase of over 24,500 ETH. However, following recent market corrections, the firm's position deteriorated, with Ethereum prices plunging below the 1,900 dollar mark and reflecting a 37 percent loss year-to-date.
#Why Did Trend Research Scale Back on Ethereum?
In response to the volatile market environment and increasing liquidation risks, the investment firm decided to reduce its exposure to ETH. According to a recent report, Trend Research returned approximately 772,865 ETH to Binance at a price of about 2,326 dollars each, following their earlier withdrawal of 792,532 ETH at a significantly higher average price of 3,267 dollars. Despite this sell-off, they are maintaining a reduced position, still holding over 21,000 ETH valued at approximately 44 million dollars.
#What Factors Contributed to the Current Market Situation?
This week’s market activities coincided with a major crash that occurred on October 10 of last year, which resulted in the liquidation of about 19 billion dollars in leveraged positions. This crash saw Ethereum's prices drop from around 4,700 dollars. Since then, both Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies have struggled to regain their previous highs, indicating a challenging market for investors.
Overall, the recent actions by Trend Research highlight the significant pressures facing investment firms in the cryptocurrency landscape. As the market continues to fluctuate, it is vital for both institutional and retail investors to monitor price movements and adjust their strategies accordingly.
