#Costco Posts 11.6% Sales Rise in Q3 Fiscal 2026
Costco Wholesale Corporation (Nasdaq: COST) reported net sales of $69.15 billion for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, the twelve weeks ended May 10, 2026, an 11.6% increase from $61.96 billion in the same period last year.
Net income for the quarter came in at $2.19 billion, or $4.93 per diluted share, compared with $1.90 billion, or $4.28 per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2025.
#Comparable Sales Rise Across All Regions in Q3
Comparable sales for the quarter rose 9.8% on a total company basis, or 6.6% on an adjusted basis excluding the impacts from changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange.
The U.S. segment posted comparable sales growth of 9.4%, while Canada came in at 10.7% and other international markets at 11.2%. On an adjusted basis, those figures were 6.8%, 6.2%, and 5.9%, respectively.
Digitally-enabled comparable sales grew 21.5% in the quarter, or 20.8% on an adjusted basis.
#Membership Fees and Year-to-Date Results
Membership fee revenue for the quarter reached $1.37 billion, up from $1.24 billion in the prior-year period. Total revenue for the quarter was $70.53 billion, compared with $63.21 billion a year earlier.
For the first 36 weeks of fiscal 2026, net sales increased 9.6% to $203.37 billion from $185.48 billion in the same period last year. Net income for the year-to-date period was $6.23 billion, or $14.01 per diluted share, compared with $5.49 billion, or $12.34 per diluted share, in the prior year.
#Costco Operates 931 Warehouses Globally
Costco operates 931 warehouses as of the report date, including 639 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 115 in Canada, 43 in Mexico, 37 in Japan, 29 in the United Kingdom, and locations across Korea, Australia, Taiwan, China, Spain, France, Sweden, Iceland, and New Zealand. The company also operates e-commerce platforms in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, and China.
Costco competes in the warehouse club retail segment alongside Sam's Club, a division of Walmart, and BJ's Wholesale Club in the U.S. market. The segment's membership-based model generates recurring fee revenue that provides a degree of income stability independent of merchandise volumes.
The company's cash position increased to $18.95 billion at May 10, 2026, from $14.16 billion at the start of fiscal 2026 on August 31, 2025. Operating cash flow for the 36-week period was $11.13 billion, compared with $9.47 billion in the year-earlier period.
