Skywater Technology Inc (NASDAQ:SKYT) has announced a collaboration with QuamCore to fabricate a digital superconducting controller, under a multi-million-dollar partnership aimed at advancing Single Flux Quantum (SFQ) technology for scalable quantum computing.

The agreement combines SkyWater’s position as the largest exclusively U.S.-based, pure-play semiconductor foundry with QuamCore’s innovative SFQ-based architecture, supporting QuamCore’s long-term roadmap toward a 1-million-qubit superconducting quantum computer.

SkyWater will use its proprietary superconducting process modules to develop an optimized fabrication flow for integrating SFQ digital control circuits with superconducting qubit arrays. The collaboration aims to improve yield, uniformity, and performance at cryogenic levels.

Key technical advantages include up to 1,000× fewer cabling requirements and power consumption several orders of magnitude lower than CMOS-based control electronics. Joint development milestones over the next 12 to 18 months include test-vehicle fabrication and demonstration of cryo-SFQ control chips.

Explore which companies are already generating revenue from quantum computing and how their business models differ across hardware, software, and services.
