Management Team

If you’re going to invest in a company, you want to know that your money is in good hands. That’s why it’s important to get to know the key figures behind the business. With that in mind, here is some further information about Atlas Salt's leadership team

Rowland Howe

President

There is no greater endorsement for a salt miner than having “Mr. Salt” himself on its leadership team. Just one look at the man’s credentials shows how valuable his vast experience is.

Howe spent more than a decade with Compass Minerals as its mine manager at Goderich, still the planet’s largest salt mine. During his tenure, annual production at Goderich more than doubled to a record 7.5 million tonnes, a level Compass has yet to match since Howe left. Compass’s stock also soared more than 600% during the Howe era to as high as $100 a share.

Besides his current role with Atlas, Howe is also President of the Goderich Port Management Corporation.

In total, “Mr. Salt” has spent well over three decades in the world of salt mining - he started at Winsford in the UK in the 1980s - and has held some of the most exciting roles in the industry. As such, there are few people on the planet with Howe’s knowledge of salt mining and building successful resource operations.

Patrick Laracy

CEO and Director

Atlas founder Patrick Laracy, P.Geo., has a knack for finding outstanding resource properties as evidenced by Great Atlantic and Fischell’s Brook. His knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador geology is remarkable, along with the connections he has built throughout the province over the decades.

Laracy also serves as President, CEO and Director of Vulcan Minerals, the largest single shareholder of Atlas. This geologist and former lawyer has headed this mineral exploration business for about 30 years, helping oversee its work in finding gold and base metal properties of merit.

Gillian Russell

CFO

Accounting, audit and management specialist Gillian Russell holds a chartered professional accounting designation with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Newfoundland and Labrador.

She has held financial controller and manager positions in both the public and private sectors, including the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 904, representing approximately 2,000 people in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

John Anderson

Director

John Anderson is an enormously experienced entrepreneur who has headed no less than 19 companies across his 25-year career. His work has been mainly focused on natural resources in North America and across the globe. He notably serves as President of Purplefish Capital Management, a private investment fund focused on the resource sector.

Fraser Edison

Director

Fraser Edison brings expertise in finance, construction, the oil and gas industry, and transportation management to Atlas.

He currently serves as President and Chairman of the Board of Rutter Inc., Chairman of Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation, and a member of the board and governance committee of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.

Carson Noel

Director

Carson Noel is a former lawyer and business consultant with more than 20 years of successful experience with exchange-listed companies from start-up through exploration and development, including involvement with the prolific Fruta del Norte gold discovery in Ecuador. He is also the founding Director and Past President of the Ecuador-Canada Chamber of Commerce.
