QYOU Media will be hoping that a new Smart-TV partnership will power continued audience growth for its creator-led content.

Smart TV in a living room.

QYOU Media Inc. (TSXV: QYOU) (OTC: QYOUF) has announced a partnership with Coolita which it says will significantly expand its connected TV reach. Coolita is a global smart television and TV operating system (OS) company. It operates on major brands of smart TV including Panasonic, COOCA, METZ, Croma, Thomson and others.

The new partnership means Indian users of these brands of smart TV will have simple access to stream QYOU Media India’s growing portfolio of FAST channels on a free ad-supported basis. These include The Q, The Q Kahaniyan, Q GameX, Sadhguru TV, and Bollywood Hungama Live. As such, users will have access to a wide range of movies, shows and entertainment in their living rooms.

Coolita operates in over 80 countries across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, America, and beyond. Notably, the company has successfully shipped over 2 million large-screen devices running the Coolita system in India.

As such, the new partnership is a significant way for QYOU to increase the size of its already growing audience.

Connected TV in India

Connected TV refers to traditional television sets with internet functionality. They allow users to use music and video streaming services, browse the internet, and view photos. Of course, they can also watch traditional TV broadcasts.

It’s a technology which is rapidly growing in popularity in India. The number of connected TV households in India is projected to jump from 25 million to 40 million between 2022 and 2025, according to Statista.

To exemplify this growth, nine out of ten TV’s sold in India last year were Smart TV’s. This rapid growth has caught the attention of advertisers. Statistics supplied by QYOU say that global ad revenues in the Connected/Smart TV space have enjoyed $25.9bn in revenue globally in 2023, representing a CAGR of 13.2%.

Indians are watching an average of 3 hours and 44 minutes of TV every day and this number has grown in recent years. QYOU’s faith in the market looks well-placed.
